The Challenge

The Chocolate Season is a European-inspired artisan chocolate shop in the Midwest run by chocolatier Erika Jensen and her husband Brad. Erika and Brad came to us wanting to merge their two websites and move to the Shopify platform to elevate the ecommerce experience. The project goals were to dramatically increase the online portion of the business’ sales and create a standout branded website design that would differentiate them from competitors. Erika and Brad specifically wanted their new site to emphasize gift and corporate chocolate offerings, as well as to reduce frequent customer questions.

Our Approach

We created a fresh and appetizing new website design that features the shop’s beautiful product photography and sweet brand touches at the forefront. Large decadent images of chocolate delights accented by brand patterns and icons and paired with friendly copy capture The Chocolate Season’s warm, love-filled brand personality. The navigation strategically categorizes all the shop’s offerings with a highlight on gifts while the special-designed Custom Gifts page showcases corporate and special event gift options with an order form directly on the page.

For this Shopify website redesign, large decadent product photography and an ease of use in browsing the shop’s offerings were key.

We looked at stats 6 months after launch, and were thrilled with the results. The improved site not only mitigated a traffic drop, revenue is 38% higher despite 22% fewer visitors compared to the previous year. Organic Search is the top source of traffic and brings 46% of the site’s revenue! It looks like the SEO work is already beginning to pay off. Email is the second top source of traffic and brings 31% of revenue, showing great results for the Klaviyo work as well.
