We recently had our website redone, which I LOVE the look of, but when it comes to the shop functionality (WooCommerce), it has been a total nightmare. We chose to go with Woo since our site and blog are WP and I didn’t want to lose our blog comments and google ranking by moving everything to Shopify.
We need a shop that is robust, easy to navigate, mobile friendly, easy to use (front and backend), that’s built to scale up, can handle large traffic spikes, offers other payment options besides PayPal, and is a joy for our customers to use. We need to have the shop sync with an inventory management system, our shipping software (ShipStation), and Quickbooks.
Our internal goal is to have working with Floret be a life changing experience. But we want to get back to it being in a positive way! These repeated tech knockdowns, despite having loyal followers, are incredibly damaging for our reputation.

Our challenge was to create a beautiful and easy to navigate shop for Floret—one that works seamlessly with their existing WordPress homepage. The site already had beautiful pieces in place—they just needed to be rearranged to work within Shopify and, of course, encourage shopping with your customers. This meant stripping away some of the content-focused features on the Shop homepage that were already on the WordPress homepage and clutter the shopping experience. What’s left is a clean, clear site that lets customers know right away that there is a wealth of products for sale and that they are supporting a family business.

One thing we wanted to pay special attention to was the site navigation, to make the path to purchasing clear and easy.
The first visual cue that the customer can shop on your site is the introduction of the shop sidebar navigation upon launch. The “Shop by Category” heading is a clear to call action. The categories below are a combo of your current navigation and the list you included. The first three—Seeds, Bulbs & Dahlias—will be open/showing by default upon launch. The customer can also view the Tools and Gifts subcategories by clicking the arrow to the right of the category name. The “Refine by” options will appear once on an applicable shop category page. So will the breadcrumb navigation that shows your customers what page they’re currently viewing.
