Mobile-first Shopify website for a flower art and home goods shop

Sister Golden

Mobile-first Shopify website for a flower art and home goods shop.

The Challenge

Sister Golden is a shop founded by mother-daughter owners Vicki and Brooke. They came to us wanting a custom website for their thoughtfully curated collection of one-of-a-kind and vintage pieces, including Vicki’s acclaimed flower art pieces made completely from Mother Nature. Vicki and Brooke wanted a website designed around their new branding with strategic solutions for reducing frequent questions about their flower art prints and for special product drops they release a few times per month.

Our Approach

We collaborated closely with Brooke to create a mobile-first website that places the brand’s warm feeling and illustrative style at the forefront. Sister Golden’s new Shopify website has multiple hero options for flexibility, product feeds with animated badges that can be mixed and matched for special drops and product labels with detailed information on rug sizes and print types. The custom flower art product pages highlight information that was previously frequently asked about and feature upsell sections as well as details on the art creation process.

When analyzing the stats for this site half a year after launch, we saw that the conversion rate was 17% higher than the previous year and revenue was 52% higher. After only half a year, the project had a 5.7x return on investment. These are impressive results during a tough economic year for many ecommerce sites.

Since most of Sister Golden’s website traffic comes through on mobile devices, a mobile-first design approach was critical. This means that the new website’s functionality and layout was planned to ensure a successful user experience on mobile primarily, with the design then adapted to a desktop layout.

After the new site launched, the mobile conversion rate was 17% higher. This is especially important because almost 84% of the traffic is from users on mobile devices.

Part of our work in creating a seamless brand experience on the website was to ensure that all graphics and external apps match Sister Golden’s fonts and colors. This included styling maps as well as apps and widgets integrated into the site.

These touches seem to be resonating with customers, because stats show the visitor engagement being much improved: people are staying on the site longer, viewing more pages per session, and the bounce rate (people leaving after viewing just one page) is lower.

My experience working with Aeolidia was streamlined, totally professional, and fun! Before hiring the Aeolidia team to create a custom website for us, we had done all of the work on our website ourselves. It was a big deal to hire a third party to help us and it turned out to be a very worthwhile investment! Personally, the design phase was my favorite. There are so many small details throughout the site that work together to give a very on-brand, special experience for the shopper. We’re excited to see how the new site continues to improve our KPI’s!
