Aeolidia to the rescue!
Our website desperately needs an update! To refresh your memories: we run our site with a ZenCart and WordPress backend. It works fine, but we need a better option for the ecommerce part. Our daily mail volume has grown to the point where all number of clicks we have to do to ship each package takes too much time (click on order, click to print each invoice, copy and paste address and email into endicia, click to print the label, update the record as shipped, email each customer…) It seems like here in 2014 a lot of this could be done by robots, or batch printing or batch mail export, etc. Zen Cart has been our beloved jalopy, and there are so many things it does do, but I am eager to give Shopify a try, have heard many good things and the apps seem to make some of my customizable dreams come true.
Mostly we would like to streamline the shipping process so my one employee won’t leave out of sheer boredom! And yes, we are always looking for growth and hope a better user interface will help make the shopping experience easier and more pleasurable. I also would like the site to look cleaner, it’s pretty clean already, but ya know, over time, things get pasted on, stop looking exactly the way you want..
Aeolidia to the rescue!
We moved I Heart Guts off of Zen Cart and WordPress, and were able to import much of her content smoothly from WordPress to a Shopify blog.
Zoe used Shopify’s blogging engine sneakily behind the scenes to display some of the page content in interesting ways. For example, the testimonials page is individual entries that also feed the Fan Mail section in the sidebar. The Meet the Gang section is also technically a blog and is structured a little more like one, with the “archive” grid page and individual pages for each gut. Press uses the same mechanism, but like Testimonials is displayed completely differently (no signs of being a blog) so that Wendy can enter each item in the grid individually.
We adjusted Shopify’s regular search results page to give more detail about where your results are coming from. This way, you can see if you’ve found a blog post about the bladder, a “meet the guts” page, or a product page – and product pages show a thumbnail photo.
Structuring the content this way made it easy for Wendy to add her content, and it will be simple for her to add and edit testimonials, guts, and press mentions in the future.
ShipStation has been integrated to solve her shipping woes and to make her work on the back end quick and painless.
