Ruth's Problem

I need a new name for the retail side of my toy business. I’m growing, expanding, outsourcing, and while I love the name Handmade Happiness by Ruth, I recognize that it could be a misleading name for a toy made in a small batch manufacturing facility instead of in my home studio. The toys need to grow up.

Our Solutions

We began by brainstorming a business name with Ruth. We landed on Mouse Loves Pig, a nod to a beloved toy and story character in Ruth’s Family. From there, it was a joy to develop a brand that suits her creative, lively, and joyful business.

What Our Client Had to Say

I am in full elf mode right now, making toys and selling out (yay!) and looking forward to how much this new rebrand is going to grow the business in the coming year.  Everyone with whom I have shared the name change and the new branding in the past few weeks has laughed, smiled, and generally become more joyful and more filled with childlike wonder.  EXACTLY the response I was hoping for.

Branding Solutions

Jess was inspired to create hand-drawn lettering that alluded to a “mouse and pig” without actually showing drawings of them. She created a script that incorporates this joyful looped “M” that resembles mouse ears and the adorable curly “G” that looks like a pig tail! It is whimsical and fun but the script is polished and bold.

This updated logo is a natural evolution for Ruth’s brand. It pays homage to her joyful handmade style but will grow with her as she continues to develop her business.

The gal in charge of the trade show remembers me applying last year and said something to the effect of “with your amazing products and your adorable branding, we knew that you’d be the first call to make from our waitlist.” Please pass this win for branding on to the team, because the only thing that has changed since I applied last year is the branding, I used all the same photos for the application this year. <3 <3 <3

The gorgeous new branding and amazingly thoughtful new name have shifted my thinking as a business owner from “my little craft business” to “global toy brand.” I am so excited to share the newfound clarity and refinement of the screen free toys dream with the world.—Ruth Rau
