Leah's Problem
Leah came to us in need of a new name and brand identity for her line of fun, everyday accessories. She felt like her old name and brand identity was holding back the growth of her company. She felt self conscious about it and therefore wasn’t confident about reaching out to retailers or certain craft shows. She was worried that at first glance, the old name and logo wouldn’t seem like a good fit for certain shows or types of shops.
While her old business name and brand identity had some room for improvement, her products themselves were well-made, high quality accessories with an eye towards beauty. Leah described her business as “fun and sometimes quirky, but classy.” With rich details like brass zippers, understated leather monograms, and leather or waxed canvas accents, even the products with playful and colorful prints have a bit of gravitas and offer the overall impression of durability and high quality. Leah was ready for a logo and brand identity that looks more grown-up and modern, with darker colors that reflect the true personality of her products. Our team certainly delivered!

Our Solutions
We helped Leah with creating a business name, defining a target customer and unique selling proposition, and a full brand identity update. The goal of the re-brand was to create an engaging and vibrant new identity that better showcased her style and the evolution of her business.
Caroline Colom Vásquez was on board as business consultant for this project, and she helped Leah tailor her marketing strategy and get clear on her ideal customer. Next, copywriter Natalia Sylvester developed the perfect new name for Leah’s growing business: Modern Tally. As Natalia notes,
“I wanted to convey the sense of taking inventory & fulfillment that resonated with you, but in a more fun, playful way. I feel this name works on multiple levels because the words themselves provide the feel of function + beauty on a phonetic level; modern is very straightforward & functional, while tally is very happy-sounding.”
The new logo and brand guide designed by Jess Levitz is a clean, friendly, and slightly retro-inspired design that is unique amongst the competition. The design is tailored and minimal but with a solid dash of quirk and feminine whimsy – much like Leah’s own product designs. Jess also created a unique and adorable illustrated portrait to be utilized as a personal branding element. She was inspired to create the portrait to showcase Leah’s connection to the products as the sole designer and seamstress.
In the end we created a versatile, modern, quirky brand that is a natural and exciting evolution for Leah’s business!
What Our Client Had to Say
I couldn’t have asked for more from the Aeolidia team! I’m a small business but they took me seriously and I felt like a valued client from the very start. They gave me beautiful work delivered right on time and a very pleasant teamwork experience.
The new branding continues to be the best decision I’ve made in a long time! I actually have a feature in a regional magazine this month, and I got into a craft show that I’ve been rejected from multiple times—I almost entirely credit those to the new brand. (After I told the reporter how long I’d been in business, she said to me, “your stuff is so great, I’m surprised we haven’t featured you long ago!” which to me just speaks to how much better I am reaching my ideal customer now.)

Branding Solutions
For Leah’s new logo, designer Jess Levitz was inspired to create a clean, friendly, and slightly retro-inspired design that is memorable and unique amongst the competition. The design feels tailored and minimal, but with a touch of feminine whimsy – much like Leah’s own designs! To pair with the logo, Jess created a memorable icon that is a simple line drawing of Leah. She was inspired to do this because of Leah’s impact on the business as both the designer and physically sewing the products.
