Aeolidia to the rescue!
Deborah Moebes was running a subscription-based monthly club through her website, Whipstitch, that taught dressmaking skills through monthly lessons and targeted video instruction. For two years it ran with moderate success and warm response from subscribers, but Deborah felt the name, The League of Adventurous Dressmakers, was clunky and lacked visibility, making it hard for new customers to understand the vision of the group and buy into membership. She wanted to rebrand the course so she could offer it as a stand-alone product with its own strong identity.
Aeolidia to the rescue!
Deborah wanted a brand that evoked a feeling of “excitement and limitless possibility,” kind of like what you get when looking at a vintage travel poster or war-era propaganda.
Picking up on this direction, Jess created a cohesive logo that packs some punch while still feeling feminine. Jess included the needle and loop in the logo to pay homage to Deborah’s original Whipstitch brand.
Deborah had long wanted to create branded swag for her club members, so Jess designed the brand mark, a decorative shield that alluded to Deborah’s superhero influences, as an asset that could be used to create club merchandise, like patches.
What Our Client Had to Say
It was all enormously beneficial, but this was no passive project where I wrote a check. This was deep work on my brand that had impact far beyond “just” a logo and required me to solidify my goals, my plans and my expectations. I didn’t expect homework, but I’m sure glad they know what they’re doing so well that they asked me to do it. Every facet was beneficial, thorough, professional and an honest delight. The level of personal attention and communication was far beyond what I’ve ever experienced and such a welcome surprise!
Jess created a typography-centric logo and branding that felt contemporary but was rooted in vintage design, evoking a feeling of possibility and a spirit of adventure.
Deborah told us,
“Going into this project, I knew I wanted a new logo. But the process of working with Aeolidia allowed me—maybe forced me?—to think more specifically about my brand over the long-term. I was able to formulate a better picture of what I want to communicate to my customers, and of how my product fits under the umbrella of my larger brand. Seeing all those ideas solidify into a logo and branding materials was jaw-dropping, and has been immensely motivating as I move toward a new sales season. It’s so exciting to work with folks who really get it and spur me to be my best! I can’t wait to work on my next project with Aeolidia.”
