Aeolidia is growing and we’re looking for a Business Name Brainstormer / Copywriter to join our team! Aeolidia is a “one stop shop” design agency that develops brands and creates story-centered ecommerce websites for designers, artisans, and curators that have made it past the startup phase.  We pair our custom strategic Shopify websites with analytical insights to continually optimize clients’ sites, resulting in significant growth to their online retail sales.

Aeolidia is a graphic design and web development agency that has been working with designer and artisan businesses since 2004. We’re the preeminent design team in our creative niche, and we dig deep into strategy based on information we get from each client’s website analytics while also truly understanding the branding part of it. As the Business Name Brainstormer / Copywriter for our clients, you’re a critical part of the foundational work that goes into our branding projects, and will work closely with multiple project teams and clients at a time to make sure the brand’s identity, personality, voice and values are communicated in an engaging, consistent, and strategic way across all deliverables.

While this is not a graphic design job, the ideal writer will have worked with graphic design teams to ensure both art and copy are working in tandem to best achieve a client’s branding goals. You should not only be comfortable with, but excel at, slipping in and out of various writing styles as you work on multiple client projects at once—all of which have unique messaging goals and voices. You should know the difference between showing and telling, and understand when to employ one versus the other. Experience with client briefing is a must, as is knowing how to listen to a client’s needs and turn their vision into copy that doesn’t merely repeat what they said—it reimagines and elevates it.

A Day in the Life

Now that we’ve covered what it’s like to work with Aeolidia, let’s chat about what you would be doing on an average day. The part-time Business Name Brainstormer / Copywriter will begin by working approximately 5-10 hours per week writing copy and developing business name and tagline concepts for our clients’ brands. This position could grow as more clients opt for this service.

Business Name Brainstormer / Copywriter responsibilities include reviewing all content received from clients, analyzing consumer data and branding strategies that differentiate our clients from their competitors, and implementing guidelines created by our branding strategist into all marketing communications from the brand. Whether you’re crafting website copy for a newly-launching website, product descriptions, product packaging, and unboxing, or you’re conceptualizing business names and taglines that will set our clients apart in their niche, you see each project as an opportunity to use words in original, memorable and unexpected ways.

The ideal writer will use all information at their disposal—from the creative brief to marketing research, SEO stats and strategies, and branding guidelines developed by our team—to craft a business name and/or content that brings the brand to life. You’ll know the right questions to ask to help a client best communicate their mission, values, and target customer. Driven by narrative, you should have a sharp eye for what the story behind each story is—even when the client hasn’t fully realized it yet—and then develop a brand’s voice and messaging to bring that story to the forefront.

You will need to successfully collaborate with our project teams, including brand and web designers, brand strategists, and photographers. You will often be the first creative that a client works with in their project with Aeolidia, so your interaction may set the tone and expectations for the rest of the team. Your work consists not only of writing but revising, and you are skilled at listening to and interpreting a client’s feedback and requests for changes in a way that keeps a project moving forward and closer to its fullest potential with each round.

Every position with Aeolidia is a remote one, meaning you get to work from wherever you are! There are no set schedules or hours. Flexible schedules that fit around your life are what we do best. However, of course we do expect all of our team members to meet their goals and project expectations, so we’ll have weekly meetings to check in on progress, celebrate successes and help clear roadblocks that have a tendency to pop up from time to time.   • You have 3+ years’ of marketing or copywriting experience

  • You can do your due diligence to suggest available domain names for business names you propose

  • You have experience creating brands for retail products.
  • You are a skilled communicator who works one-on-one with clients.
  • You have an understanding of marketing analytics and KPIs
  • You’ve developed web content, print collateral, business names and taglines, product descriptions for web and packaging, email marketing, social media, and blog content.

Bonus Points:

  • You’ve been in a copywriting role for at least five (5) years.
  • You hold a bachelor’s degree or higher in a creative or marketing field.
  • You have experience working with ecommerce businesses.
  • You’ve worked with and supported creative, small businesses.
