We’ve been enjoying #followfriday on Instagram by featuring some of our favorite shops, designers, makers, and creative businesses on Instagram. I include a quick business tip on each #aeolidiabizcrush post, so you can get some insight into why each biz is so popular.
Here are a few of our favorites. The like/comment links will take you to the page on Instagram. If you don’t see these pics in your feed reader, please click over to our site! You won’t regret it.
Creative biz crush: Present & Correct. We've been following along with these dapper chaps since helping them put together their first website back in 2008. Biz tip: your eye for good design can be your strongest business asset. Look for design in your every day and help people see things the way you do. Follow @presentandcorrect for the best vintage stationery and to see how design can be found in the most unexpected of places.
Creative Biz Crush: Baby Jives Co, creating handcrafted mobiles and artwork to inspire wonder and imagination. The mobiles are works of art meant to grow up with a child and hang in their room long after the last diaper is changed. Biz tip: Find a new twist on a popular product and make it totally yours! Help people understand the value of handmade and don't limit your product to one type of customer if it can charm many or be used in creative ways. Follow @babyjives for so much sweetness!
Creative Biz Crush: Winter Water Factory. They make the sweetest organic kids clothes – and now clothing for women as well! I'm a sucker for unique illustration and patterns, and these ones are so wonderful. Biz tip: Develop a signature style that people will need to have in their lives. And when moms tell you they want a dress in that pattern, listen up and make it happen! So smart. Follow @winterwaterfactory for the most adorable outfits ever.
Creative Biz Crush: Rock & Pebble. I have been printing fun little crafts and activities for my kids from @mrprintables for years, and I was delighted to discover their toy store! The Dollhouse Book is genius, and I would have flipped out to have had it as a kid. Biz tip: Put your mind to work on new ideas, emphasize fun, and people will join you in your enthusiasm. Follow @rockandpebble for the most clever and simple toys for kids.
Creative Biz Crush: Haptic Lab – they make map quilts (I need one of the Puget Sound), constellation quilts, sailing ship kites, and do it yourself projects. Everything they do is stunning! Biz tip: Put love and care into every tiny detail of your product and find a way to carefully grow so every sale doesn't rely on your own hand work. Follow @hapticlab for inspiring quilts and other design.
Creative Biz Crush: Iron & Oak Domestics, whose tables combine raw, organic elements of nature with refined steel. Biz tip: As Jason said in his interview with @renegadecraft, "if you’re going to do it, then do it with everything you have. Hard work pays off, even if it isn’t automatic. Patience is key, push boundaries and trust your gut. Most importantly, love what you do!" Follow @ironandoakdomestics for more gorgeous wood!
